Facilitators and Playshops for Friday

The Art of Connected Conversations

Cathy Rose Salit - USA

Our worlds of work are filled with talk, meetings, emails, texts, etc. Lots of chatter back and forth. Sometimes it's fine, good, helpful --- and sometimes (often) -- it's not. Our organizations have important social missions. To support their success, we need more listening, more understanding, and much more creativity, collaboration and nourishment in the work environment. By utilizing creative practices and concepts that come from the fields of theater, improvisation and social therapeutics; you will learn new and powerful ways to create better work relationships and conversations, and therefore more collaborative, healthy and productive work environments. This session is open to both organization leaders and team members.

Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork

This session will involve a little bit of theory about the notion of teamwork, and then lots of activities that will encourage us to  feel the difference between getting things done and getting things done together. We will investigate our strengths so we can lean on them, we will exercise our listening and response skills, we will work as a team to solve problems in the most outlandish ways! It will be fun and informative.

Cultivating Team Resilience

In this unique workshop, people share true stories of times that were hard then yet funny now, affirming each other's resilience and fostering hope. Each person who shares gets reinvigorated with their own inner strength and inspires others to look with fresh appreciation at their own lives. We explore the difference between laughing at and with each other, as a guiding principle for enhancing workplace connections. Sharing these stories releases stress and brings new energy for the journey ahead. It also has people feel closer to each other, amplifying teamwork and creating a more vibrant, adaptable work environment ready to navigate future challenges.

Play with/for Freedom

What does play have to do with the pursuit of freedom?

Does it matter if activists play with one another, their audience, their tasks?

Join organizers of the Freedom Festival and explore how inviting playful creativity can inspire, excite and activate yourself, volunteers and participants.

Facilitators and Playshops for Saturday

Do you find that even the most well-intentioned discussions can miss the mark or be unhelpful? Have you experienced work-based or personal communications that are challenging and confusing? This session explores ways to enjoy better connection using techniques founded in improvisation comedy. Whether you are in corporate or the arts; a team leader or a solopreneur; this playshop offers real-time solutions to everyday miscommunications.

Los Juegos de Poder en Ambientes de Trabajo

Creative Grassroots Campaigning

In this playshop, we will explore how the arts, creativity and playfulness can be brought into how we practice social change.  We will play with how to bring more people to become allies by exploring specific campaigns for social change as co-creating a story that can win hearts and minds.

Transformative Storytelling for Change

This session explores the transformative power of creativity to tackle injustice and oppression through stories of change and inclusive dialogue.
